People Explain Which Things Completely Irritate Them That They're Also Guilty Of Doing Themselves

People are the absolute worst.

Especially when they do that thing you know you're guilty of yourself. You could perform a psychological examination of your mind, trying to understand whether it's a self-loathing thing or if there's some deeper cause, but it's probably better to ignore it, right? When someone does something you can't stand but then you go and do it the very next day?

Normal, right?

Reddit user, u/MrLeakyHeart, wanted to know about:

What is something that irritates you that you're also guilty of doing?

Turns Out We're ALL Bad Drivers

The hardest place to keep our tempers in check is on the road. Nothing like driving 4,000 lbs of steel and gasoline to make you feel calm, relaxed, and annoyed at everyone else for not being able to drive like you.

HOW DARE YOU DRIVE WHEN I DRIVE?

Being on this particular road going in this particular direction at this particular time of day. Why is there traffic right NOW, dammit!

Strokeslahoma

Yeah. "Why the f*ck is everybody out doing stuff right now? They should be at home!"

3 Spaces For My Compact? Yep.

Sh-tty parking.

HoneyBadgerLive

I've been lying and saying I like the walk for over twenty years to justify parking far away from other cars.

Learn To Drive And/Also Save The Earth?

Cyclists when I'm driving, drivers when I'm cycling.

ToothbrushGames

When I started cycling I developed a lot more patience for other cyclists while driving, but I lost all patience for improper or half-a**ed hand signals.

Slightly Less Serious Social Conditions

There are conditions that, on the surface, can feel like a big deal. Dig a little deeper and you'll see that they're not as bad as you originally thought.

I'm The Worst, Aren't I?

Being overly self-deprecating. When other people do it it's untrue and they need to stop but when I do it its warranted and I'm just being honest.

It's a bad mindset tbh

Reconsider Your Actions. Be Mindful. Succeed.

It can be so easy to rag on someone for doing something you already do, something you know is wrong yet still proceed in. You'll beat yourself up for no reason, hurting the one person who needs help the most.

Don't.

Sorry, What Were You Saying?

Not fully listening to someone as I can't wait to have my opinion or story heard. I try hard to minimise this, now that I am aware that I do it. I understand it's a human trait but I'm working hard on allowing people to finish so that I actually listen instead of just hearing them.

iainmax

I get that. I'm the same way. I think it stems from the fact that when people are telling an interesting story, it tends to change in subject. And then we lose the opportunity to tell the story we want to without making it awkward on bringing up the past subject again. Gotta feel the mood, but also don't want to interrupt and be a d*ck :(

Catching Yourself In The Act

Judging people for superficial reasons.

whats-this-button-do

I don't remember where I saw it, but I once read that in situations like this, the first thought is one you have been conditioned to think and the second thought (rebuking the first) is the one we actually developed on our own. I am guilty of this too ie: thinking to myself "oh my god what are they wearing I would never" and immediately following up with "no that's not right, I am jealous of their confidence and they can and should wear whatever they want". The first thought being a product of what I heard growing up, the second being a product of what I took the time to learn and acknowledge

Not Answers, Just An Ear

Trying to fix someone's problems when all they want is someone to vent to.

Appleglimmer

Yes. I always promise myself to let it pass next time. And then I can't help it and start commenting or worse, giving advice. Ugh.

Nothing like a little projection to make it easier on yourself. As long as you can accept that what you're doing is wrong you'll be able to live with the actions you take.

Just be more careful when you drive.

Viral 'Pints And Ponytails' Event For Dads Who Want To Learn How To Do Their Daughters' Hair Is Giving Us All The Feels

Dads have a lot to learn when it comes to raising their kids, and in some case, single dads don't always have the same sounding board for their choices as married couples and co-parents.

This isn't talked about enough, but dads with daughters have the added pressure of learning how to take care of girls, from dressing them to taking care of their hair, which can be a very different experience from raising boys. If they weren't raised with sisters or female cousins, they could be at a total loss for how to approach this.
