Mom Forced To Put Sign On Daughter's Back To Stop People From Shaming Her For Bringing Her Along To Stores

Government leaders and health officials do not go a single day without urging everyone to socially distance in order to mitigate the spread of the virus and reduce the onslaught of ICU patients across the world.

But what happens when you have a small child to care for and you need to go to the store?

For one Texas Mom, it meant pre-empting the shamers.

MaryAnn Fausey Resendez, as she's known on Facebook, knows the struggles of the tight rope many families have been forced to walk throughout the pandemic: take care of a young child, continue to go out and buy basic needs, and follow the 6-feet rule all at the same time.

Anticipating some haters who might not approve of her bringing her 5-year old along on a shopping trip, Resendez put together an explanation, a shame-barrier if you will.

The hand written sign laid out their non-negotiable situation.

"I am only 5."
"I can't stay home alone so I have to buy groceries with Mommy."
"Before you start judging stay back 6 feet."

Nobody could miss the disclaimer because it was written in bold marker, and TAPED ON HER DAUGHTER'S BACK.

Resendez's strong-willed motherhood and creativity were praised by many on Facebook.

Other comments went further, identifying Resendez's situation as an illustration that people's ability to practice social distancing largely depends on their economic situation.

Some people reminded Resendez about the option to have groceries delivered.

While that is an option, demand is often so high that wait times are absurdly long. In addition, not all stores have the ability to do so, or the added cost of delivery fees may close off that advantage for some families.

Alas, precautions and a big old sign may have been the best resort after all. Clearly, Resendez has no qualms about it.

Disgraced former New York Republican Representative George Santos was widely mocked after he announced he will leave New York City now that Zohran Mamdani has won the mayoral election.

Mamdani has sent shockwaves around the world with his win; an unapologetic democratic socialist, he took on the establishment and won despite months of Islamophobic and racist attacks from the right-wing.
