While fans continue pining for The Office to join the dozens of other TV shows getting reboots, all fans can do until then is imagine what those zany Dunder-Mifflin employees are up to these days.

Former writer and cast member from the comedy series, Mindy Kaling, who played Kelly Kapoor, offered her outrageous insight into where her alter ego wound up after The Office finished its nine-season run.

And it's a twist nobody ever saw coming.

The update on Kelly has something to do with her dysfunctional relationship with Ryan Howard, who was played by B.J. Novak.

The last time audiences saw them was in the May 2013 finale, when they ditched Dwight and Angela's wedding and Ryan's baby and ran off together.

And now, one of them might be dead.

Yeah, it's very disconcerting and sounds like something from the world of Shonda Rhimes.

"There's not an insignificant part of me that thinks that Kelly might be in jail, a crime of passion," Kaling told Variety in a recent interview.

"The character just kept getting a little bit more and more unhinged. I don't want to say that she murdered Ryan, but like, I'm also not convinced that he's still alive in the world of The Office."

Here is a YouTube clip from the Variety interview.

Fans took a moment to process the crazy update on Kelly.

But then her murderous rage was justified.

Turns out, people didn't really love Ryan.

Whatever ends up happening to her character, Kaling said she would "be open" to an Office reboot if the show's executive producer Greg Daniels is on board.

"I think that anything that Greg decided to do, I would watch and love and want to help him with."

If there winds up being an Office 2.0, will fans see the character of Ryan or his headstone?

Sadly, we may never know.
