South Bend Mayor and 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg got an awkward shoutout from President Donald Trump, who's nicknamed the candidate "Alfred E. Neuman" after the Mad Magazine character.

It happened at the President's recent rally in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The President said he "dreams about" Buttigieg in a bizarre tangent about the 2020 Democratic candidates hoping to challenge him in the general election.

Watch below.

Trump said:

"I mean, you have Alfred E. Neuman who's running, who's like this guy? This guy Buttigieg, Boot-edge-edge. Can you believe he's doing well? He's like the leading fundraiser. I dream about him! It's true. No, Boot-edge-edge!"

If that sounds weird to you, Buttigieg is in agreement.

Responding to the Washington Post's Bob Costa, Buttigieg said of the comments:

"I will admit it did bother me when he says he dreams about me. I don't know what goes on in this president's dreams, but I'm sure I want absolutely nothing to do with them."

Others felt the same.

The Trump campaign has said it doesn't fear Buttigieg as a threat and doesn't believe he'll win the nomination. But if Trump's dreaming of him, he may be more scared than they're presenting.
