The actor called out the supposed backlash to his outfit choice after some critics were not a fan of seeing so much leg.

Who wears short shorts?

Chris Pine wears short shorts, and he doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Recently, a photo of the actor sporting the aforementioned wee pants went viral, sparking some backlash about the excessive display of leg.

We don't get it, either, but you can see a pic below.

The outfit of choice was met with some harsh criticism.

But Captain Kirk thinks the hot pants should live long and prosper.

In fact, Pine told E! he doesn't think the look needs defending at all, hence the name "shorts."

He explained:

"I don't think there is anything to defend. It's called a short, isn't it? It's supposed to be short."
"Corduroy shorts, short shorts. I mean, it's a vibe. It's the best vibe."
"It's like a Tom Selleck vibe. It's like a '70s surfer vibe. I prefer that than the long."

That is, indeed, a vibe.

Pine continued:

"It's like Showtime Lakers."
"Would you rather see them with the short shorts and Magic Johnson looking like a basketball player and athlete rather than wearing some sort of capri or something on the floor?"
"No. So I'll be wearing the short shorts."

No arguments here.

You can watch the clip below.

And many on social media agreed with Pine's stance.
