It was announced yesterday that the Star Wars franchise's Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, will finally receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Fisher was and still is beloved by the entire fandom. Fisher passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2016, several days after having a heart attack on a flight back from the U.K.
To make the tribute all the more touching, the star will be revealed on May 4th, which is widely celebrated as Star Wars day—as in "May the 4th Be With You."
The Walk of Fame tweeted:

Fans responded to the announcement with suggestions for Fisher's star to be placed near her iconic mother Debbie Reynolds'.
The minds behind the Walk of Fame arrangements were able to confirm that was already in the works.

Most reactions were bittersweet, as fans were excited but surprised it had taken so long to become a reality.

The conversation in the last 24 hours is not the first time Carrie Fisher has surged back to the front of our minds. Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, previously gave a touching tribute to her and her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, while talking about grieving around the holidays. Fans of Star Wars have also pondered Fisher's ethereal presence, like at the panel where J.J. Abrams discussed the production of Skywalker and the lights dimmed, some theorized as Fisher's approval of the production.
These little echoes of Fisher still being with us, at least in memory, continue to pop up, and while her star being placed on the Walk of Fame is an important echo, we highly doubt it will be the last.
