German Chancellor Angela Merkel Audibly Snorts As Trump Says 'I Have German In My Blood' At G7 Summit

German Chancellor Angela Merkel Audibly Snorts As Trump Says 'I Have German In My Blood' At G7 Summit
CNN

President Donald Trump made quite the splash at the G7 summit of world leaders, hosted in France. The splash was more from a belly flop than a swan dive.

One awkward moment came during a joint presser with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, upon whom Trump lavished praise.

After assuring that he would take Chancellor Merkel up on her invitation for a state visit to Germany, the President boasted that he had "German in his blood," to which Merkel audibly snorted.

Watch below.

Trump said:

"I'm very honored by the invitation. And it's true. And we will be there. And maybe soon. I have German in my blood."

People speculated on what spurred Merkel's laughter and other world leaders' reactions to Trump.

It wasn't long before #TrumpNotWelcome began trending in Germany.

Trump, however, does have German roots. His grandfather immigrated from Germany in the 19th century. In the past, he's inaccurately stated that his father was born in Germany.

It was far from the only awkward or disturbing moment during Trump's time at the G7.

An awkward attempt to kiss Merkel also made headlines.

He threw his support behind hosting the next G7 in Miami, at his own resort.

He blamed former President Barack Obama for Russia's illegal 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

Yikes.

Trump Made A Petty Dig At Taylor Swift During The Eagles' White House Visit—Because Of Course

President Donald Trump was called out after he made a petty dig at pop star Taylor Swift during his speech for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House.

In a brief speech, Trump acknowledged the Eagles' 40–22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs was “a little surprising,” a remark that appeared to reference the Chiefs' consecutive Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024. He then shifted focus to Swift, getting in a petty swipe drawing attention to Swift's presence at the game to watch her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, play tight end for the losing team.
