Personal freedom is a hot topic at the moment.

But what if your personal expression upsets your neighbors?

A woman is pondering that question and turned to the "Am I The A**hole" (AITA) subReddit for feedback.

Redditor Psychedelicorpsycho asked:

"AITA for using my hot tub nude?"

The Original Poster (OP) explained:

"Background; I live in a state where it's legal to be naked on your property as long as you're not engaging in lewd activity."

"My husband and I recently got our first home. Its a decent sized property 0.5 acres and has 6 feet fences."

"We have a porch on the back that I decorated with lights and we put in a hot tub. I put a projector screen across from it (blocking the view)."

"We use the tub nude only late at night all other times we have our suits."

"The neighbors to our left have huge plants to block the property line. Perfection."

"I went ahead and put similar plants on my back property line to block the view."

"Anyways, the neighbors behind us are kinda old and conservative. The woman came to my house today and basically screamed at me for being naked in the yard."

"She threatened to call the cops next time I did it to which I informed her on the Florida statute 800.03. I explained to her all the precautions we took."

"Honestly I'm surprised anyone can see anything our property is in the middle of the acre and there's a ton of plants and trees."

"She's threatened to report me to the HOA and the police anyways if I continue. She already confronted me about smoking marijuana but I have my medical card and ever since then she's been on my ass about everything."

"AITA for refusing to stop using my hot tub, on my porch, in the nude?"

"We have tinted screens on the porch but maybe the projector lights it up. Either way its still hard to see that far."

Redditors were asked to weigh in by voting:

  • NTA - Not The A**hole
  • YTA - You're The A**hole
  • NAH - No A**holes Here
  • ESH - Everyone Sucks Here

Redditors assured the OP she was not the a**hole.

"NTA it's your property. I'd be raising questions as to how/why she's peeping on you and your husband." ~ orphangrrl

"This, why is your neighbor watching you across an acre yard? Tell her to call the cops and you can discuss your concerns about her harassment with them." ~ throwaway61419

"As a 911 dispatcher I can tell you people call the cops for anything and everything. There exists a huge percentage of the population that just can't mind their own business." ~ fulknerraIII

"My bet its her husband who's peeping, and granny would rather bitch at 'the other woman' than correct her husband's behaviour. NTA." ~ SnowWhiteCampCat

"Yeah she's a peeping tom. Sounds like OP and their husband should file a police report themselves. NTA." ~ LotusLizz

"Yeah, unless op is being disingenuous about the set up, it sounds like the old lady had to try pretty hard to catch a peek."

"It is 100% not op's problem." ~ devilinblue22

"NTA. You are following the law on YOUR property."

"It's not like you streaked over to hop in her hot tub. Neighbor sounds like a piece of work tbh." ~ Imgonnathrowawayy

"You're NTA...but she's gonna be a pain in the a** regardless of what you do."

"My advice?"

"Start looking for ways to block her view of your backyard. Yeah it sucks to have to do it, but at least she won't be up your ass as much."

"Maybe look into some tall plants along the back fence line...or some kind of privacy shade for the area around the hottub."

"That way if any other neighbors mention it cus she is running her mouth...you can claim that you made your back yard extra private after she complained."

"And that at this point, if she can still see you naked then she must be actively trying to see you naked." ~ Ron_F'kin_Swanson

"My parents have a pergola above/around their tub and have a sunscreen blind thing for the sun, you can see through it (sorta) but not from afar." ~ Fr3sh3stl4d

Even though Redditors felt OP was NTA, many advised they take steps to protect themselves from prying eyes.

The OP added in an update:

"I ordered dividers from Amazon anyways."

Trump Claims The White House Was 'A Sh*t House' When He Moved Back In—And Everyone Had The Same Response

MAGA Republican President Donald Trump has made significant, controversial changes to the White House since he took up residence for his second term on January 20, 2025.

The renovations in just over one year include installing pavers to replace the grass in the Rose Garden, adding gold decor throughout the building and especially in the Oval Office, renovating the Lincoln bathroom to add marble and more gold fixtures, adding gold signs for White House features like it's one of Trump's resorts, hanging a plethora of massive portraits of himself in gaudy gold frames, and demolishing the entire East Wing of the building to erect a self-described monument to himself, an unpopular golden ballroom that will dwarf the rest of the building.

People Are Applauding AOC's Refreshing Take On Her Political 'Ambition' After She Was Called Out As A 'Likely 2028 Presidential Candidate'

When asked about her future political ambitions during an appearance at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago, New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was notably candid, saying her "ambition is to change this country," as she ripped a Washington Post editorial that tried to knock her down a peg for her take on the morality of billionaires.

The progressive is not currently considered the frontrunner in early 2028 Democratic primary polling but some surveys suggest she has already emerged as a serious contender in what is expected to be a crowded field.
