Hot on the heels of her disastrous Fox News appearance last week, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert has once again embarrassed herself while trying and failing to insult Democratic President Joe Biden.
In a new video posted to Twitter in which Boebert once again defends her outbursts at Biden's State of the Union address two weeks ago, Boebert shared a message for Biden she claimed came from the mother of a Marine who died during active duty.
But she misidentified the Marine's title, giving him a rank that does not exist in the U.S. military.
See the video below.
After I spoke up for our 13 fallen military heroes at the State of the Union address a few of their parents reached out to thank me for recognizing them.

One of the parents encouraged me to share her message. Here it is.pic.twitter.com/Eu0IKn2FG0— Lauren Boebert (@Lauren Boebert) 1647362610
Speaking about the moment during Biden's speech when she heckled him over the 13 soldiers who died in a terror attack in Kabul during the U.S. military's withdrawal from Afghanistan, Boebert claimed several parents of those service members had written to her in support of her outburst.
"After I spoke up, a few of the parents of our fallen soldiers reached out to me, and one of the moms encouraged me to share her thoughts with you.”
Boebert then read from a piece of paper the words she claimed one of those mothers wrote to her.
“Hello Mrs. Boebert. I am Shana Chappell, the mother of Lieutenant Corporal Kareem Nikoui.”
Chappell is certainly no fan of the President, having publicly criticized him in the past, but it's all but certain these are not her words because "Lieutenant Corporal" is not a rank that exists.
Chappell's son was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marines. He was killed in the terror attack in Kabul—which Boebert mispronounced as "cabal" while giving a reading of Chappell's supposed letter so dramatic it sounds like something out of a high school drama class.
Of course, Boebert's Republican fans will forgive her.
But on Twitter, people definitely noticed the error and were not impressed.
Who's going to tell her there is no such rank as "Lieutenant Corporal", or that it is pronounced KA-BULL not 'ca-BALL'
A 'hard' "K", and equal stress on the syllables, or as she probably call them 'silly-balls'!
#LaurenBoebertIsSoDumb she is just DUMB! https://twitter.com/laurenboebert/status/1503773896847380482 …pic.twitter.com/Yx346VePeO— Andrew Hill (@Andrew Hill) 1647433030
Are you perhaps a member of Congress, but don't know the difference between a lieutenant and a corporal? Here you go.https://www.dictionary.com/e/corporal-general-private-order-meaning/ …— Dictionary.com (@Dictionary.com) 1647372666
Sporting a new look, Boebert recounts the incident where she yelled out during SOTU. She talks about Pelosi telling her to shut up, then says the mom of a “lieutenant corporal” (there’s no such thing) wrote her to thank her.pic.twitter.com/0WFuy1PLI8— Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦 (@Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦) 1647363549
The U.S. military doesn’t have a rank of “lieutenant corporal” so what was the nationality of the mother who thanked her?https://twitter.com/ronfilipkowski/status/1503777835655254028 …— Alexander S. Vindman (@Alexander S. Vindman) 1647365238
23 years in the Air Force and I have deployed with every branch of the Armed Forces. Have yet to run into a Lieutenant Corporal. What's the old saying. "Better to say nothing and have people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove ALL DOUBT."— LoadToad2W1 (@LoadToad2W1) 1647370277
I dunno, but maybe Prince John can tell us.https://twitter.com/AVindman/status/1503784919599771649 …— An Absolute Demon  (@An Absolute Demon ) 1647368774
The lies this woman tells….she can’t even validate that what she says is plausible. Lieutenant Corporal? That’s how little she cares about soldiers. Did she recognize the ones who were killed under Trump? No. They were fine.https://twitter.com/laurenboebert/status/1503773896847380482 …— TurnCO3blue (@TurnCO3blue) 1647378825
I'm guessing Lieutenant Corporal is a rank in the Gazpacho?https://twitter.com/laurenboebert/status/1503773896847380482 …— Neal M. Brown (@Neal M. Brown) 1647463041
People want to invoke the 25th Amendment every time Biden has a minor slip up, but it's totally fine when (supposedly) mentally capable people like Lauren Boebert say "lieutenant corporal"? I see how this works.— Rex Zane (@Rex Zane) 1647449308
This is all pretty rich coming from a Congresswoman who just yesterday attacked Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris as knowing "so little about everything."
Pretty sure Vice President Harris knows the difference between a Marine and an Army soldier and not to make up military ranks.
That alone puts her at an advantage over Boebert.
