The acclaimed author urged Republicans to focus on the gun violence epidemic rather than 'Hunter Biden's laptop.'

As gun violence continues to wreak havoc across the United States, bestselling author Stephen King has slammed Republican lawmakers for their apparent inaction.

King called out Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert and Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and urged them to "do something about mass shootings" instead of focusing on attacking President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

King took to Twitter to make his views known, saying that it was time to "stop talking about Hunter Biden's laptop and do something about America's problem with gun violence."

You can see King's tweet below.

He then called out Boebert, saying she should "do something about mass shootings."

Boebert was recently photographed holding a T-shirt with an AR-15-style gun, which was used to kill five people in Texas, including a child.

King also responded to Greene with the following message:

"Do something about gun violence."

The author's comments come amid a wave of mass shootings across the country, with the Gun Violence Archive reporting 192 incidents so far in 2023. While the scale of the problem is clear, Republicans have been criticized for their lack of action on gun control, with many choosing to focus on other issues instead.

Boebert and Greene are no strangers to controversy.

Last year, Greene suggested that several mass shootings were staged, a claim that her office later denied. Meanwhile, Boebert has been an outspoken opponent of gun control laws and has previously said that she carries a gun in Congress.

However, King's comments suggest that the time for talk is over and that action is needed to prevent further tragedies.

His tweet went viral, with many users agreeing with his sentiments.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether Republicans will heed King's call to action or continue to focus on other issues. But with lives on the line, the stakes have never been higher.

Neither Boebert nor Greene have responded to King's remarks.
