Henry Cavill Confirms He's Out As Superman In Bittersweet Post: 'It's Been A Fun Ride With You All'

Cavill confirmed he's hanging up his cape after playing Superman in multiple DC films over nine years.

It seems we won't be seeing any more of Henry Cavill in his iconic red Superman cape.

After playing the superhero for the last nine years, Cavill is saying goodbye to Clark Kent.

Cavill shared the news on Instagram.

He said:

"I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone."
"I will, after all, not be returning as Superman."
"After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life."
"The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that."
"James and Peter have a universe to build."
"I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes."

James Gunn and Peter Safran were recently named the new heads of DC Studios and have already begun restructuring for their vision of DC's future.

Cavill continued:

"For those who have been by my side through the years... we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember... Superman is still around."
"Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there!"
"My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will."
"It's been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards."

Fans of Cavill shared their disappointment in the news and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Gunn shared in a recent tweet some of his and Safran's new projects include a story focused on Superman's early life.

He also said although Superman will no longer be played by Cavill, they "talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future."

We hope this is true.

Trump Made A Petty Dig At Taylor Swift During The Eagles' White House Visit—Because Of Course

President Donald Trump was called out after he made a petty dig at pop star Taylor Swift during his speech for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House.

In a brief speech, Trump acknowledged the Eagles' 40–22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs was “a little surprising,” a remark that appeared to reference the Chiefs' consecutive Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024. He then shifted focus to Swift, getting in a petty swipe drawing attention to Swift's presence at the game to watch her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, play tight end for the losing team.
