The supermodel called out the media for reporting that she only eats 900 calories a day.

Earlier this week, multiple media outlets reported that Heidi Klum told her Instagram followers, via her stories, that she eats only 900 calories a day, and now Klum is fighting back.

According to the articles, the supermodel allegedly revealed she eats three poached eggs in warm chicken broth for breakfast and consumes about 900 calories for the entire day.

Additionally, Klum replied to a follower's question asking her weight, posting a photo of herself on a scale reading 137.4.

After several online articles criticized Klum for promoting a dangerously low caloric intake, the supermodel fired back, taking once again to her Instagram stories.

Klum shared with viewers:

"I just got home, and some friends are sending me these articles that have been written that I only take in 900 calories."

She continued:

"I want to say that I don't think I've ever had to count my calories in my life and don't believe everything that you read."
"I don't count my calories, and someone asked me how much I weighed, and I got on a scale and showed how much I weighed."

Klum concluded by saying:

"I don't know, people just put things together and write a bunch of crap, and it's really sad because there is no real journalism anymore, one person writes it and then everyone jumps on it, and it's really sad because people read that and they think that and they possibly follow that and that's not good."

You can watch her explanation, below.

People online expressed their shared disappointment.

And many weighed in on the dangers of significantly restricting calories.

We truly hope Klum's statement is true. The body positivity movement has come a long way in recent years, but clearly there is still a lot of work to be done.
