37-Year-Old Father Dies After Being Crushed By Steel Plate In 'Tragic Accident' At Disneyland Construction Site

Javier Jimenez was working at a construction site related to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, when a terrible tragedy resulted in his death.


A spokesperson for the Anaheim Police Department said the incident involved Jimenez's construction team, who were installing a large pipe into a trench outside the park around 3:00 AM.

The pipe "accidentally struck a cross beam," causing a metal plate to fall into the trench, crushing Jimenez.

Jimenez was transported to a hospital where he was shortly thereafter declared dead, according to KABC.

Liz Jaeger, a spokesperson for Disneyland, issued a statement saying:

"We are saddened by this tragic accident involving a contractor and on behalf of Disneyland Resort extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Jimenez's family, friends and coworkers."

Daron Wyatt, speaking for the Anaheim Police Department, says the incident is currently under investigation by California's Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Engineering News-Record reports that Jimenez was employed by the Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.

Social media users were heartbroken by Jimenez's family's loss.





A GoFundMe was set up by Angelina Arambula, the daughter of Jimenez's girlfriend.

It reads:

"Javier was a devoted boyfriend, loving father and stepfather, an amazing son, brother and friend. His family was the most important thing to him. There was no father like him. He lived an extraordinary life and his memories will live with us forever."
