Social media users slammed parents at Yellowstone National Park for being “tourons” (tourist + moron) after video footage showed a child in danger near a raging river in a national park.
The original video was posted by Instagram user Abbey Morales (@itsabbeyhollaaa) and was shared by the Tourons of Yellowstone (@touronsofyellowstone) page, which features the wild behavior of mindless tourists in national parks.
The alarming clip showed the unsupervised child wearing a yellow shirt and red shorts in a potentially dangerous situation, climbing barefoot on rocks near treacherous waters.
Morales' caption was shared by @touronsofyellowstone, which read:
“I honestly thought that kid might be swept away and drowned! Also, he was barefoot!”

One user alleged the boy was near the Gibbon River and at the top of Gibbons Falls, which is an 84-foot waterfall.
They continued:
"It is illegal If the rangers have to risk their lives to save someone for their stupidity, turbulent water and the drop in the waterfall Definitely, the parents should be reprimanded profusely for allowing this to happen."
Many of them feature tourists, often in large groups, getting dangerously close to wild animals in order to snap a photo up-close or take selfies.
