Little Boy Whose Family Moved The Day Before Lockdown Without Getting To Say Goodbye Receives Heartwarming Message From Across The World

A seven-year-old left isolated after moving to a new town just before the UK lockdown has received messages from across the world after a social media appeal.

Harley Glen moved 200 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland, to Harrogate, in North Yorkshire, England, on Saturday March 21, the day before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the UK-wide lockdown.

The family moved a week earlier than planned because they felt they risked becoming stuck with nowhere to live as the contract at their old house was coming to an end.

Harley was due to start year two at Western Primary School on Tuesday, but the coronavirus outbreak meant he was unable to say goodbye to family and friends in Scotland or meet new people in Yorkshire.

Harley has been 'terribly lonely', according to a Facebook post by his mother (Ashley Glen/@theexploremoremum/PA)

"That affected Harley a lot … it was a very surreal move," said Mrs. Glen, a 33-year-old personal trainer.

"When you move and can't say bye to anyone or meet anyone new, that's when I really thought I had to see if I can try and connect."

Mrs. Glen sent an appeal on a local Facebook group asking for pen pals to get in touch with "terribly lonely" Harley, either by messaging her on Instagram or sending a written letter to his new school.

The post was seen by a BBC journalist who wrote an article about the appeal, which has, in turn, caused people from across the globe to get in touch.

"We have had Instagram messages from a family in Osaka, Japan, two families from New Zealand and a lot from around here, it's crazy," Mrs. Glen said.

"There have been messages from people saying they feel lonely too … even people who don't have children have sent messages saying they are thinking about Harley."

"The mums of three or four children who will be in Harley's new class have got in touch … and today we did a mini Spanish class on Zoom with some of them."

Harley told the PA news agency that the messages make him feel "happy" but said:

"I would probably be scared if I became friends with everyone in the world."

Mrs. Glen added:

"Everyone's been so sweet and nice and positive, which is so nice for Harley to be around right now – I can't imagine how bored he must be being in the house all the time with all that energy."

Mrs. Glen said she hopes Harley's appeal will encourage others to start writing to pen pals to "stay positive and connected."

Those wishing to get in touch with Harley can message Mrs. Glen's Instagram, @theexploremoremum, or write a letter to Miss Ward at Western Primary School, Harrogate.

Miss Ward works at Harley's school, which Mrs. Glen said has been "really positive" about the appeal and will pass on the letters to the family.

Alexander Skarsgård Jokingly Reveals NSFW Reason He Didn't Move In With 'Harry Potter' Star Miriam Margolyes

In a parallel universe, Alexander Skarsgård might have spent his early Hollywood days sharing a kitchen with Miriam Margolyes, casually passing her the salt. In contrast, she would have given him unsolicited life advice or flirted a little. Alas, that universe never came into existence, but according to last Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show, it was surprisingly close.

Skarsgård, 49, and Margolyes, 84, found themselves on Norton’s famous red couch last Friday alongside All’s Fair star Glenn Close and Bridgerton breakout Nicola Coughlan. The conversation quickly veered into real estate comedy, queer history, and one baffled Swedish actor trying to remind a beloved British legend that they had met before. It was chaos in its most refined form.

Video Of Dancers Being Forced To Perform In Horse Poop During Thanksgiving Day Parade Sparks Debate

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a spectacle to talk about every year, and with performances by Busta Rhymes and Wicked's Cynthia Erivo and floats from Stranger Things and Toy Story, this year was no different.

But this year, people had something else to talk about, and the reason is pretty disgusting.

Gavin Newsom Trolls Pete Hegseth Hard For Trying To Meme Drug Boat Bombing Scandal

After Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made light of his deadly attacks on alleged drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean by turning the scandal into a meme featuring Franklin the Turtle, California Governor Gavin Newsom memed him right back to stress that the bombing of these boats constitutes a war crime.

Hegseth's original meme, which he inexplicably captioned "for your Christmas wish list," features a doctored book cover titled Franklin Targets Narco Terrorists and shows Franklin, the protagonist of the popular Canadian children's book series authored by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark, firing a bazooka from a helicopter at boats in the water below.

Damning Leaked Report Reveals Embarrassing Demand Kash Patel Made After Charlie Kirk Assassination

FBI Director Kash Patel is facing criticism after a newly released report by the “National Alliance of Retired and Active Duty FBI Special Agents and Analysts" revealed Patel flew to Utah the day after far-right activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination and remained aboard the aircraft until officials provided him with a medium-sized FBI raid jacket.

Instead of immediately stepping into his role upon arriving at the site of the killing of someone he had publicly called a close friend, the FBI director reportedly fixated on wardrobe details—delaying his exit from the aircraft over the precise jacket and patches he believed he was entitled to, rather than proceeding with his duties.
