Trump Gets Brutal Reminder After He Claims Democrats Just Want to 'Put People in Jail'

Trump Gets Brutal Reminder After He Claims Democrats Just Want to 'Put People in Jail'

Despite being banned from his infamous Twitter account after his election lies incited violence, former President Donald Trump continues to spew erratic diatribes and blatant lies on the social media outlet through his spokeswoman, Liz Harrington.

It was in one of these statements that Trump appeared to defend January 6 insurrectionists still in detention awaiting trial.

Trump wrote:

"All the Democrats want to do is put people in jail. They are vicious, violent, and Radical Left thugs. They are destroying people’s lives, which is the only thing they are good at."

Trump went on to skewer the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol, calling it a "coverup" for the November 3rd election, which he erroneously believes was "stolen" from him.

Trump's assertion that Democrats only want to "put people in jail" perked up the ears of critics who remembered his 2016 campaign.

Then-candidate Trump repeatedly called for the imprisonment of his opponent, Democratic nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, popularizing the chant "Lock her up!" which would become a mainstay at his campaign rallies, despite no findings of criminal wrongdoing in her use of a personal email. Even during the 2020 campaign, Trump and his supporters continued the chant, often extending it to other political figures like Michigan's Democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer.

People hadn't forgotten this.

What's more, Trump has repeatedly supported harsh sentences for protesters. Amid the overwhelmingly peaceful protests against racist police brutality last summer, Trump called for a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison for anyone who vandalized property or toppled statues during a protest.

People were disturbed by the unhinged rhetoric in Trump's statement.

Trump's diatribe comes as the January 6 committee is investigating potential criminal acts committed by the former President.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
