TikToker Breaks Down Theory That Kevin's Dad Was A Mob Boss In 'Home Alone'—And It Tracks

Catherine O'Hara and John Heard in 'Home Alone'
20th Century Fox

TikToker Brian Rooney went viral for his video hilariously addressing the long-speculated theory that 'Home Alone' patriarch Peter McCallister was actually a mob boss.

As young children yet to be tainted by the expectations and responsibilities of growing up, we all found Home Alone to be a glorious tale about a kid, Kevin, living out our dream of being an unaccompanied minor in a massive house with seemingly unlimited resources.

We could totally get over the minor inconvenience of a robbery on Christmas Eve.

But as bill-paying, inflation-facing, tax-deducted members of society who also have to feed ourselves, we as adults wonder how in this world Kevin McCallister's father managed to afford that house, two kids and a family trip to Paris (during peak travel season, at that)—and why he would be targeted.

Well, some fans hold the theory that Kevin's dad, Peter McCallister, is actually a "mob boss," and TikToker Brian Rooney (@roon_tang/TikTok) made it make sense.

As for the plot, Rooney claimed the two con men, Harry and Marv, "were from a rival family and they were seeking revenge which is why they were hitting up the block."

He continued to validate the idea, explaining how Kevin's actions in the film are "straight up G."

"I think the whole theory of Kevin’s dad being a mobster makes total sense just based off Kevin’s behavior."
"When Kevin found out that Harry and Marv were going to rob his house, it didn’t even occur to him to ever call the police."
"Kevin stuck to the G code of ‘this is my house. I have to defend it.’ That’s the most gangster sh*t ever."

Rooney went on:

"At the end he didn’t talk to the police at all. He didn’t give them a statement. He just kept his mouth shut. That’s some G code sh*t which he would have had to learn from his mob boss dad."
"Y’all better recognize Kevin McCallister was a stone-cold thug."

Others, however, found a few holes in his theory.

A few mentioned that Kevin's parents had day jobs. Peter was a "businessman," and Kevin's mother Kate was a fashion designer.

Also, several pointed out that Kevin couldn't call the cops because the phone lines were down.

And then there's the big one: Peter's brother actually paid for the trip to Paris.

Well, true or not, it's a decent fan theory with lots of supporting evidence!

...or perhaps Kevin's uncle is the mob boss...🤔

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
