Texas Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert, a Trump supporter who was often seen in Washington with no mask, was diagnosed with the virus last week.

As the Congressman receives medical treatment, his daughter, Caroline Brooks, took to Twitter to encourage others to wear a mask as her father did not.

Even after his diagnosis, Gohmert continued to tweet, saying he's being treated with hydroxychloroquine (a favorite treatment of President Trump) despite multiple studies from medical experts which show the anti-malarial "isn't effective."

Many online praised Brooks for her wisdom.

It must be very difficult to have a father suffering from the virus while he continues to put others at risk.

Brooks wrote:

"Wearing a mask is a non-partisan issue. The advice of medical experts shouldn't be politicized. My father ignored medical expertise and now he has COVID."

If only the daughters of every prominent politician who doubts science could be so rational.

Brooks finally urged anyone following her to disregard the advice of the President, who has repeatedly shared misinformation both online and in person at press briefings.

"Please please listen to medical experts. It's not worth following a president who has no remorse for leading his followers to an early grave."

Unlike Congressman Gohmert, we should all be trying to avoid learning our lessons the hard way.

To keep yourselves and others safe, wearing a mask while in public is an essential step.
