Eric Trump echoed a frequent overstatement imparted by his father—former President Donald Trump—about people's overly emotional response to seeing him.

The internet collectively eye-rolled in response .

The former President often relayed how his fans—often described as "strong" or "tough guys"—cried with "tears streaming down their face" and thanked him effusively for "saving the country." He would add the reaction "happens every time."

While talking to Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night—Trump's third child from his marriage to former model Ivana Trump—claimed:

"More people have come up to me on the street in the last week and given me hugs and said 'we miss him so much'."
"I mean literally, sometimes Sean, with tears in their eyes."

As with his father's claims of the same phenomenon, no photos or videos exist of the constant occurrence.

You can watch the clip below:

Twitter relentlessly mocked Trump's pomposity and for parroting his dad's familiar embellishments about meeting many anonymous crying people.

The effectiveness of his security detail was also questioned—as his father's was before him.

In 2019, then-President Trump claimed a man wept as he supposedly pleaded with him to cut regulations, saying:

"I don't think he cried in his life and I don't think he cried when he was a baby."

Trump added:

"He was crying. He said, 'Sir, you give me back my life and my property'."

Trump Sr. also recalled making a group of men cry after meeting him at a campaign rally held in Evansville, Indiana in 2018.

According to Trump, nine "miners" greeted him backstage who were "tough guys," "seriously tough cookies."

He said, "in fact, I looked at them and I wouldn't want to fight these guys."

"Of the nine, eight of them were crying," he continued.

"Crying out of happiness. Because they're back."

When he spoke at a campaign fundraiser in Fargo, North Dakota, eight days later, Trump claimed:

"A strong man came up to me, tough kind of a guy, and said: 'I want to thank you, Mr. President, for saving our country.' And he had tears coming down his eyes."
"This wasn't just a statement, because he had tears coming down. Unless he was a real wise guy. But he had tears coming down his eyes."

Meanwhile, Twitter remained crying tears of laughter.
