The Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q is known for its famous irreverence. No joke is off-limits and nothing is taken too seriously—so why does this goodbye video from the show's puppet stars have us so misty-eyed?
Avenue Q, which ran on Broadway for six years and remained off-Broadway for another decade, played its final performance at New World Stages on Sunday.
After the performance, several puppets from the show bid us farewell with the song "Saying Goodbye," made popular by the much more kid-friendly Muppets.
Who knew felt could leave us with so many feels?
The video features scenes from the show's strike, with a heartbreaking final shot of the puppets being loaded up into a cardboard box.
Fans were not okay.

It's a hard loss for the New York theatre community and the show's fans, but as its closing lines remind us: Everything in life is only for now.
