Xenophobic screeds are nothing new for far-right Fox News host and Dancing with the Stars loser Tucker Carlson.
Carlson has described Iraqis as "semiliterate primitive monkeys." He's said immigrants make the United States dirtier. He's repeatedly peddled the white supremacist "great replacement" conspiracy theory, which posits that non-white immigrants are deliberately sent to the United States in order to suppress white Americans.
And in a recent broadcast to his millions of viewers, Carlson falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris is "not from this country."
Watch below.
Tucker claims the VP “is not from this country in that sense” because she went to high school in Canadapic.twitter.com/ASBvUH1mua— Acyn (@Acyn) 1637026289
Carlson said:
"There's a lot we don't know about Kamala Harris. Most people probably don't know she really grew up in Canada, where she went to high school. She's not from this country in that sense, or she's certainly also from Canada. Why haven't we heard that?"
Harris was born in California and moved to Quebec with her mother at 12 years old until she graduated high school in 1981, after which she came back to the States to attend Howard University before beginning her law career in California.
Harris lived in Canada for a total of six years, which—according to Carlson's standards—somehow means she's "not from this country."
People didn't miss the dogwhistle Carlson was blowing.

Why doesn't he just say 'because she's black and Indian'? Because you know that's what he means, and what he really wants to say. Two-time failed Republican presidential candidate, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, was born in Canada, spending the first four years of his life there. For whatever reason, Cruz's presidential eligibility was never widely questioned by Carlson or other right-wing media personalities.
People soon pointed out the double standard.
Someone please refresh my memory: was Tucker singing this song when Ted Cruz ran for POTUS?— Pat Warmack (@Pat Warmack) 1637036592
Ted Cruz would not be eligible to be POTUS based on Tucker’s standard. And not just because of this.— Saxon the Walker (@Saxon the Walker) 1637026769

Carlson is unlikely to correct his absurd claim.
