The internet is a powerful force, capable of bringing famous stars into close contact with complete strangers who might never have had the opportunity otherwise. Sometimes, this proximity to an over-eager fan culture is nothing more than a headache for talented artists looking to live a relatively normal life. At other times, however, it creates something more beautiful than anyone ever imagined, as is the case when Twitter introduced alt-rock band Weezer to Twitter user @WeezerAfrica, a 14-year-old whose sole mission on the social media site was to convince Weezer to cover Toto's classic song Africa.

His mission succeeded.
