Chrissy Teigen Gets Real About Postpartum Weight Gain And Depression, And Fans Love Her Even More For It
Perhaps one of the reasons why model and author Chrissy Teigen is such a hit with many women around the nation is because she keeps it real, often finding delight in the mundane.
Teigen, a mother of two and the wife of singer John Legend, took to Twitter to share a common question she's asked by, well, everyone: "How do you eat like this?"
The answer is quite simple. Teigen says she's "20 pounds heavier" than she was before her son was born, and that she never "lost the last bit because I just love food too much."
She celebrated her "new normal."
Teigen added that "the thinnest I've ever been" was after her daughter, Luna, was born. The culprit? Postpartum depression.
"I'LL TAKE THESE POUNDS AND THIS FEELING!" she wrote gleefully.
the thinnest I've ever been was right after Luna. Postpartum depression. I'LL TAKE THESE POUNDS AND THIS FEELING!— christine teigen (@christine teigen)1553978169.0
In a culture where women feel an immense pressure to get themselves back to their pre-pregnancy bodies after giving birth and are taught to give up pleasures like food if they wish to remain attractive to the men around them, Teigen's message resonated deeply.
