Sometimes the heat's just too high--even for the queen of the hot take.
Chrissy Teigen is known for ruling social media, and especially for never shying away from spitting fire when it comes to issues she cares about--which of course, given her rapidly mounting cookbook empire, includes food.
So combining the two--fire and food--in an appearance on Hot Ones should have been a no-brainer. The program, an online interview show by Complex and First We Feast in which interviewer Sean Evans and celebrity interviewees eat increasingly spicy wings, has seen countless celebrities wimp out after just a few levels of spice. But Teigen is no quitter. She went through all 10 levels of hotness and suffice to say it got heated, if you will!
The episode started out well enough. In pure Teigenian fashion, she shaded Nutella (agree), trashed Milky Way bars (also agree) and, perhaps most controversially, emphatically asserted Chicago deep dish is "not pizza" (resident of Chicago here and HARDEST AGREE OF ALL BECAUSE DEEP DISH IS TRASH DON'T @ ME), an opinion she immediately acknowledged will "be a thing" as soon as it hits the internet.
But none of that was any match for the wings themselves. "I'm a wing freak, I'm a hot sauce freak, I'm a hot wing freak," Teigen said at the beginning of the ep, "I feel like we're gonna be okay, but who knows?" Famous last words...
Teigen got full too quickly, and began simply licking the increasingly hot sauces off the wings to compensate and, well...
It didn't go quite as planned.
It was a notoriously hot sauce called Da Bomb that finally did her in.
In response to Hot Ones host Sean Evans, Teigen reported some strange bodily goings-on...
...that got so out of hand she had to swallow mountains of CBD pills:
