Viral TikTok Video Showing Landlord's Quick Fix For Tenant's 'Collapsing' Ceiling Sparks Debate

A collapsing ceiling is no laughing matter,

Particularly when one's landlord won't fix it.

But TikToker Milie, who goes by the handle @lollygaglab, could not stop laughing in a now viral video of their landlord's somewhat questionable attempt at fixing their roommate's collapsing ceiling.

The video's overlay gave viewer's a concise explanation of the issue Milie and her roommate were dealing with.

"Told our landlord our ceiling was collapsing and this was his solution."

The camera then panned up from the floor into what appeared to be Milie's roommate's room, with their apparent roommate staring at their landlord's solution to their problem.

That would be a narrow wooden stick, severely curved in the middle, jammed between the floor and the ceiling.

An action which could result in justifiable outrage from most tenants, Milie could be heard unable to control their laughter at the situation, managing to say "it looks so ridiculous" between laughs.

After their laughter subsided, Milie closed in on the demonstrably damaged ceiling, remarking to their roommate, "it's literally holding up your roof."

Milie's roommate was likewise amused more than angry at the situation, expressing how he wished he had a Hot Wheel car, as the stick was reminiscent of the loop de loop car tracks of the toy cars.

The video's caption—"we are definitely not fried"—might also be an explanation for Milie's persistent laughter throughout the 18-second video.

Receiving over 680 thousand views in less than 24 hours, several viewers shared in Milie's amusement at their landlord's questionable solution to what is, in fact, a very serious problem.

Others were considerably less amused, concerned for the safety of Milie and their roommate, with many even seriously suggesting they sue their landlord.

Whether or not Milie's landlord has handled this situation remains unclear, Milie still seems to be taking the whole thing in stride, as evidenced by an update they posted in the video's comments section.

Indeed, Milie's landlord should consider themselves very lucky to have a tenant as easygoing and understanding as Milie.

One hopes the ever increasing viewership of this viral video results in this unknown landlord getting that ceiling fixed sooner rather than later.
