Kellyanne Conway Slams CNN After They Play Her Husband's Remarks About Trump: 'I'm Embarrassed For You'
Kellyanne Conway appeared on CNN on Thursday, November 14, to represent the President following the beginning of public hearings in the impeachment inquiry against him.
At the end of the interview, CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked Conway, with some trepidation, what her response was to her husband, George Conway's comments on television the day prior. George Conway has been all over the media-sphere claiming that the President has committed impeachable offenses and that the President's supporters are sacrificing the soul of the Republican party.
Kellyanne was NOT happy that Wolf had brought this up.
In the clip, Conway refuses to answer Wolf's question, insisting Blitzer had "embarrassed" himself and his network.
Many people online disagreed with Conway's assessment.
Conway set up his question by saying:
"It's a sensitive question and it's a political question. It's a substantive question. I don't want to talk about your marriage, I know there are issues there. Your husband, George Conway, is a lawyer —"
Kellyanne seemed pretty eager to talk about her marriage, jumping on this line of thinking right away.
"What did you just say? No, no, no. Did you just say there are issues there? You don't want to talk about my marriage but –"
Wolf pressed forward.
"I want to talk about a substantive point, that your husband, George Conway, made. He was on television all day yesterday during the first day of the impeachment hearings."
Conway didn't seem interested in addressing the substantive points.
"So before you play the clip, which I haven't seen. Why? And why are you doing that?"
Wolf answered her question.
"Because he's a legal scholar, he's a lawyer was really going after the president of the United States and he was all over television yesterday."
After the clip of George Conway aired, Kellyanne said she was "embarrassed" for CNN, commenting:
"Where is the shame, where is the introspection."
She continued:
"I think you embarrassed yourself and I'm embarrassed for you because this is CNN now? I looked up to you when I was in college and law school, I would turn on CNN to see what Wolf Blitzer had to say about war, famine, disruption abroad. I really respected you for all those years as someone that would give you the news and now it's what somebody's husband says."
During an appearance on MSNBC the day prior, George Conway attacked Republicans for their continued defense of the President's actions.
"Take that Republican hat off and look at it neutrally. Look at what you would have done if Donald Trump were a Democrat. Would you be making these ridiculous arguments about process?"
People were somehow less than surprised that a Kellyanne Conway interview devolved into overly dramatic nonsense.
A note to interviewers: Kellyanne Conway does NOT want to talk about her husband's legal opinions. In fact, she's so passionate about not talking about them that she'll spend the whole rest of the interview talking about them!
