Camila Cabello went viral with a brilliant response to the internet mocking the way she sang the word "Christmas" in a rendition of a holiday classic at last year's In Performance at the White House: Spirit of the Season.
The Cuban-born American singer, songwriter looked ravishing in a gorgeous red jumpsuit and matching elbow-length gloves while performing "I'll Be Home For Christmas" from the Grand Foyer.
Prior to her performance she tweeted her enthusiasm, saying performing again for the President was "an incredible honor," adding:
"Wishing you all a wonderful holiday with your loved ones."
“such an incredible honor to perform again at the white house. wishing you all a wonderful holiday with your loved ones 🥰 @potus @flotus @pbs
https://t.co/AviZ3oyVZ9”— camila (@camila) 1640186636
This holiday season, the clip of her performance from last year resurfaced due to social media users not being able to get past her pronunciation of "Christmas" in the song originally made famous by Bing Crosby in 1943.
The melancholy tune–composed by Walter Kent with lyrics by Kim Gannon–was a song sung from the point of view of a soldier during World War II penning a letter to his family about the promise of returning home for the holidays, "if only in my dreams."
Many artists have sung "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and have made it their own in their unique style–including Cabello.
However, many people online found the two-time Latin Grammy Award winner's pronunciation of "Christmas" jarring as it phonetically sounded like she was saying either, "quismois," or "quiz mice."

The clip gained even more traction on TikTok starting with user @notbfiner, who posted the video with an overlaying text that read:
“Yes Camila, I too will be home for quismois.”
Another clip teasing the singer showed TikToker @karmapilled exuberantly jumping up and down pretending to show the "Pov the quiz mice when they find out Camilla Cabello will be home for them."
Another viral clip showed TikToker @talzofficial performing two renditions of the beloved classic–the first showing how the song is sung normally and the second showing how Cabello sang it.
Please let this land on the right side of tiktok. #cursive #quismois #illbehomeforchristmas #camilacabello #popsinger
People couldn't seem to ignore Cabella's unique take on Christmas or quismois.

In response to the incessant roasting, Cabella–being a good sport about it all–poked fun at herself with a brilliant clip in which she schooled her alter ego on how the word should be pronounced properly.
Needless to say, it didn't go very well.
The "Habana" singer wrote in the caption:
"Me before recording my version of I’ll be home for christmas (quismois)."

And the internet was here for her taking an awkward social media moment and twisting it on its head.

Whatever her intentions, we're with her in spirit this quismois.
She can plan on it.
