During Wednesday the seventh's Vice Presidential Debate, many people online were commenting on the exchange between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris being too "boring."
Shortly thereafter, comedian Patton Oswalt burst onto the scene to issue a stark reminder.
Politics are supposed to be boring.
Twitter fondly reminisced about the times when politics didn't terrify them on a daily basis.
bored > terrified

I saw a quote once that if you live in a country where you have to pay attention to politics every day then you basically live in a tyrannical or failed state.
You shouldn't have to watch your government like hawks every day to be sure they aren't fucking you over.

I compare it to doing your household bills. It's boring but if you do it right you have food on the table, lights stay on, and medical insurance paid for. If you call your doctor and say he's a hoax and Mexico will pay your bills then your house will be shaky and scary.

We all have political PTSD from this FUBARed administration. A good president is one you rarely hear from except to tell you things are going well. The last 4 years feels like 40, I am so damn tired. This is the most abusive relationship ever.

As a Canadian I assure you that boring means that they're doing it right. US culture thinks everything should be entertainment but MY GOD look where mixing politics and entertainment has brought you. No offense. Ps: We're also exhausted from the last 4 years. Make it stop pls.

It's just those idiots that love Jerry Springer type debates. Those of us that actually like facts want to hear what they have to say pic.twitter.com/EMzJzCW6Vp

Others felt there was a different kind of entertainment on display during the debate.
Boring? I'm giggling at Mike Pence tip toeing with the compliments to Kamala and she's there knowing he's got his depends on tonight.

For me its more the evasion of the asked debate question. Sen Harris is answering the question but she's getting in digs which I dont mind. But Pence's faux Mr. Rogers manner is what I imagine John Wayne Gacy would be like as VP. Yeah boring but Pence is creepy AF.

Boring? Watching people that will govern share their ideas on your future? People waiting for a train wreck is how we got Trump in the first place
— checkerboy (@checkerboy) October 8, 2020
And while some saw boring, others still saw a man with low impulse control.
How many women are experiencing PTSD from pence just continuing to talk over both women. Just because he does it with a godly smile and "gentlemanly" monotone....doesn't make it any less annoying and disrespectful. We have all had that family member, friend, boss or teacher speak

Hopefully there aren't too many Americans who are won over by a measured tone of voice alone. The ability to maintain control of yourself should definitely be one requirement for a Vice President.
Mostly people were just tired.
God I pray for boring. I really do. We have been amped up for four years. It's like being locked inside a Chuck E Cheese with an evil, addictive eight-yr-old bully who refuses to let us take a break.

Trump has turned politics into a reality show and it appears a lot of people are fine with that. Something is deeply wrong with this country.
— chris ☀️🌈☮️🌻🦄 (@oldxtine) October 8, 2020
I agree. I'm sick of going to bed scared of what Trump will do, say, or tweet each and every day. There is no peace, just constant chaos with this guy. I truly miss going days, weeks even without a thought of what my President is doing each day.

Make Politics Boring Again!
— Trevor Boot (@Baikeru) October 8, 2020
On November 3, let's make politics boring again.
