Trump Dragged For Saying There Would Be Fewer Virus Cases If We Just Stopped Testing
The early months of the virus outbreak that upended daily life in the United States were marked with a severe undercount in cases due to a lack of testing availability.
Reports went on to document that President Donald Trump's administration deliberately pushed against testing expansion in order to make it seem like there were fewer cases, potentially avoiding a market scare that would disrupt one of Trump's main talking points for reelection: the economy.
Trump has since called testing "overrated" and called the idea of testing every American "ridiculous."
The President ramped up the rhetoric against testing yet again during a round table regarding American seniors on Monday.

Trump said:
"If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases, if any."
In case this isn't obvious: not conducting tests doesn't result in fewer cases, it just results in fewer recorded cases.
In fact, ceasing to conduct tests would likely result in more cases because asymptomatic carriers would continue to spread the virus and a lack of recorded cases would lessen public caution.
People didn't hesitate to poke holes in the President's flawed logic.
The statement did little, if anything to boost people's faith in the President's intellect.
