There was a period back in 2004 when we thought we'd never heard the end of Gwyneth Paltrow's decision to name her first child Apple.
Well, eventually the tabloids grew tired of the topic, and Apple was allowed to grow up with relatively little fanfare.
The 14-year-old is also independent and protective of her own privacy, as we all found out when she sparred with her actress and self-proclaimed wellness guru mother over an Instagram post.
Before we kick this off, we should note that Paltrow has posted photos of her daughter before.
Somewhere down the line, however, Apple decided to exercise her right to privacy.
It all started when Paltrow posted a selfie of her and her daughter skiing on Instagram earlier this week.
Shortly after the image was posted, Apple berated her mother for posting it without her permission. Apple has a private Instagram account.
Her mother, an Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning actress and one of the most photographed women in the United States, has a public account and millions of followers worldwide.
To which her mother replied:
Paltrow's followers soon noticed the exchange, and all bets were off. (It might have surprised Paltrow to see so many people siding with her daughter.)
Others weren't as kind to the teenager.
Paltrow has gone on the record to complain about paparazzi before and has lamented her lack of privacy. Perhaps another family talk is in order?
